Cliente: Festival Letrástica Dirección y Diseño: Raúl Plancarte Diseño de Fuente Tipográfica: Alumnos del taller del Festival de LetrásticaEn octubre del año 2015, se produjo esta fuente, como resultado de un taller tipográfico para celebrar el primer aniversario del Festival Letrástica, en Guadalajara, Jalisco. Con una asistencia al taller de 13 personas y un tiempo de producción de 6 horas, de manera colectiva, desarrollamos esta especie de Sans serif con un perfil plástico urbano.
Para desarrollarla primero detectamos y elegimos ciertos modelos de letras lo suficientemente distintivos y parecidas entre sí, tomando como referencia fotografías de diversos rótulos y anuncios callejeros; después pasamos por un proceso de simplificación y de economía en los elementos de cada signo para poder consolidar de manera general el aspecto del abecedario.
El producto final, tomando en cuenta las herramientas y el tiempo limitados, nos pareció además de encantador, y sumamente sorpresivo.
El nombre de esta fuente digital se debió al apelativo del huracán Patricia, que tuvo su transcurso dicho día con categoría 5, y amenazaba con cancelar la reunión de tipografílicos... Por fortuna, en lo que cabe sólo llovió fuertemente y dejó grandes desastres en la ciudad.
In October 2015, this font was produced as a result of a typographic workshop to celebrate the first anniversary of the Lettrástica Festival, in Guadalajara, Jalisco. With a workshop attendance of 13 people and a production time of 6 hours, we collectively developed this kind of Sans serif with an urban plastic profile.
To develop it, we first detect and choose certain models of letters that are sufficiently distinctive and similar to each other, taking as a reference photographs of various signs and street advertisements; then we went through a process of simplification and scaling-down in the elements of each sign to be able to consolidate the appearance of the alphabet in a general way.
As a result, taking into account the limited tools and time, we found it both charming and highly surprising.
The name of this digital font was due to the nickname of Hurricane Patricia, which had its course that day with category 5, and threatened to cancel the meeting of typographers ... Fortunately, as far as possible it only rained heavily and left great disasters in the city.
